Mason Mount has admitted that he didn’t think Lionel Messi‘s quotes predicting the Chelsea youngster to potentially become one of the best footballers around were real at first.
In March last year, Barcelona star and six-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi picked Mount among his 15 brightest stars of the future, before he said: ‘Having watched him play he has the potential to be one of the best.’
And Mount – who was enjoying a brilliant breakthrough season at Chelsea at the time – has since reacted to Messi’s inspiring comments, claiming he initially had doubts about the statement.

Speaking to Harry Pinero in the latest episode of ‘Assumptions’ on Youtube, Mount admitted: ‘I didn’t believe it at first, I didn’t think it was real.
‘I don’t really have words for it because it’s like crazy to believe…
‘When you read something like that and see something like that, it just gives you more motivation to get better and better and hopefully I can do that in the future.’
Mount went onto reveal all about his Chelsea team-mates and gave some amusing insight into the goings-on in the Blues’ dressing room.

He then went onto disclose all about one of Jorginho’s favourite practical jokes, which involves his hot playing boots.
When it’s put to him whether Ben Chilwell is the biggest joker at Chelsea, Mount replied: ‘Yes he is up there. He recently joined. Jorginho definitely, he is always playing pranks.
‘We warm our boots up in like a microwave, like a boot microwave. And because he wears studs, obviously they are metal, so they get so hot.
‘So he will always just walk around with them in his hand and just tap it on your skin. He will get you in the back of the leg or something.’
