A few realities surround the Penguins as they head into their first draft weekend with Ron Hextall as general manager.
The first is that they’re looking at a chance to grab a pretty decent prospect with their 58th overall selection (should they retain it). I’ve done the usual homework to pitch a few of my own endorsements below. This draft is a bit all over the place from a rankings perspective, and I expect that to matriculate its way into this weekend’s festivities. It’s not out of the realm of possibility to see a few talented players slip down the ladder as teams address specific needs, potentially giving the Penguins an opportunity to swoop in and get great value on someone in the second round.
