Maguire supported United as a child and his allegiance to his boyhood club proved to be enough to sway his decision.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola recently confirmed he was interested in signing Maguire prior to his move to United but claimed he couldn’t afford him.

‘We were interested in him but we could not afford it and United could afford it,’ Guardiola said.
