Man Shot Dead in Alabama while Sharing the Gospel

A husband and father was shot and killed in Montgomery, Alabama, last weekend as he was reportedly sharing his faith.

According to WLOX, Thomas Hand, 37, was sharing the Gospel in an Alabama neighborhood on Jan. 22 when a teenager approached and shot him. Hand was with his 2-year-old son and his wife, former Miss Mississippi Christine Kozlowski Hand.

“It was a complete random act of violence,” his wife told The Daily Mail.

Seventeen-year-old Jerimiah Walker has been arrested and charged with capital murder.

According to the Daily Mail, Thomas Hand became a Christian in 2018. He and his wife regularly visited low-income areas in Alabama to share the Gospel.

‘He tried to spread the word of God, and he was shot,’ longtime friend Kevin Rayan told The Daily Mail.

Thomas Hand and his wife met at a gym and later married in 2016. They have a 2-year-old son, Roman and are expecting their second child in August, Faithwire reports.

Just days before the shooting, Hand wrote on his Facebook page celebrating his sixth wedding anniversary to his wife. He also wrote, “I can’t want to meet our baby this summer.”

“An amazing person, awesome friend,” said friend Luke Lemus. “He was always there to help you. No matter what you needed, he was there.”

Hand’s wife posted on Facebook that she was “overwhelmed” but thankful for all the love and support she has received.

“I will at a later date release more information to explain everything to everyone,” she said in the post.

“Also for all of his loyal and cherished customers at Hand Nutrition, the company will continue to serve you guys, and we ask that you stick with us as this will be our only means of support for our son and baby to be. We need your support now more than ever.”

She said the couple’s Hand Nutrition company would be moving to Biloxi, Mississippi.
