Luis Saez, who rode five winners Thursday, won five more races Friday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.
Saez opened the day with back-to-back victories aboard Rhythm Section ($12.40) in Race 1 and Miz Chaplin ($3.80) in Race 2 before scoring aboard Azrael ($14.80) in Race 6, Money Moves ($12.40) in Race 9, and Silver Kitten ($4.60) in Race 10.
Saez, who has ridden 100 winners for four straight Championship Meets, has won 109 races, six fewer than leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr.
Todd Pletcher-trained Money Moves turned in a most impressive performance to capture the mile optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds. The late-developing son of Candy Ride pressed the pace along the rail into the stretch before kicked in through the stretch to win by 2 ¾ lengths. James Jerkens-trained Edge of Fire, a son of Curlin, finished second 1 ¼ lengths.ahead of Bill Mott-trained Sprawl. Owned by Robert La Penta and Bortolazzo Racing Stable LLC, Money Moves was purchased for $975,000 at the 2019 OBS April sale.
