Lucy Flores, Joe Biden accuser, to launch talk show

Lucy Flores, the former Nevada state assemblywoman who was the first to accuse Democratic presidential front-runner Joseph R. Biden of unwanted touching, is launching her own talk show targeting Latino millennials.

Ms. Flores‘ new show, “Jefa Status” (Boss Status), will feature prominent Latino millennials on the U.S.-based television network LATV (Latino Alternative Television), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“My voice is very honest and that’s what I’m known for,” Ms. Flores told the outlet. “My career was built on talking about issues that are important to me and my community.”

Ms. Flores made headlines in March after she accused Mr. Biden of holding her shoulders, smelling her hair and kissing the back of her head without her consent at a 2014 campaign rally in Las Vegas. Six additional women came forward shortly after Ms. Flores to accuse the former vice president of unwanted touching. While he never admitted to doing anything wrong, Mr. Biden promised in April that he would be more mindful of people’s personal space moving forward. He officially launched his 2020 presidential bid later that same month and is currently the front-running candidate among nearly two dozen Democrats.

Ms. Flores told THR that she spoke out against Mr. Biden in order to shed a light on inappropriate behavior, especially when there’s a power imbalance between the people involved.

“It may have started with Joe Biden but that wasn’t the primary reason why I spoke out,” she said. “Because it isn’t just about Joe Biden and his behavior. Powerful men need to recognize when there’s a power dynamic, because oftentimes the person on the receiving end doesn’t feel like they can say anything about their discomfort.”

She added that Mr. Biden’s 2020 rivals shouldn’t get discouraged by his sizable lead in the Democratic primary.

“If there is one thing we have learned,” she said, “polls are increasingly unrealistic and unreliable.”
