This is a tough year for centres if your favourite NHL team is searching for one. It seems the free-agent list is overflowing with wingers and goaltenders, but centres who can play on the top three lines are unicorns.

The Edmonton Oilers have two elite centres in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, a solid two-way winger in Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who played the position for a decade, plus a dandy NHL-ready pivot in Ryan McLeod.
