Liverpool team news: Fabinho and Alisson unlikely to play against Watford, says midfielder

Fabinho believes that himself and team-mate Alisson are unlikely to feature for Liverpool in their trip to Watford on Saturday lunchtime.

Speaking ahead of Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, which kicks off at 1.30am BST on Friday, the midfielder said he thinks there is not enough recovery time between the two fixtures.

“I believe that this first (Liverpool) match against Watford will be very hard for us, I don’t think we will play — Alisson or myself,” Fabinho told reporters.

“The match against Uruguay will be Friday overnight over there (UK) and the match against Watford will be 12.30 (on Saturday). With all that is involved, travel, I don’t know how much time we will have between one game and the other.

“I believe that we won’t be playing. We will also have to quarantine but the club is still studying whether it is better to go straight to Spain to play Atletico and quarantine there, without staying in a hotel in England.

Roberto Firmino will not face the same problem as his Liverpool team-mates, having been left out of this Brazil squad by manager Tite.

Chelsea’s Thiago Silva, Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Ederson, Leeds United’s Raphinha and Manchester United’s Fred and Edinson Cavani will also be affected by Brazil’s match against Uruguay.
