Lil Nas X Announces New Children’s Book "C Is for Country"

Lil Nas X, the musician who broke Billboard chart records last summer with his mega-hit “Old Town Road,” is still pushing the queer yeehaw agenda. The 21-year-old rapper announced on Tuesday that he will be releasing a new children’s book entitled C Is for Country, which is due out January 5, 2021 via Random House Books for Young Readers.

“I’m dropping the best kids book of all time soon!” he tweeted.

Lil Nas X also shared an image of the book cover, which was illustrated by Theodore Taylor III (Woke Baby). It features him riding a horse and carrying a guitar, while wearing a purple glam nudie suit, a matching cowboy hat, and, of course, his signature single dangly earring.

C Is for Country follows the “joyous journey” of Lil Nas X and his pony named Panini, as they help young readers aged 3-7 learn the ABCs through a collection of Western and farm iconography, according to the Random House website. Considering that “Old Town Road” was hugely popular among kids, it only makes sense that Lil Nas X would pivot to children’s book author so soon. (Remember that viral video of a room full of elementary students absolutely losing their s**t to the song?)

Lil Nas X has been teasing his debut album for a while now, but his Twitter bio indicates that it is “98%” done. He told The Guardian in April that the project would explicitly explore his queer identity, and in July, he posted a preview of him lip-syncing along to a new song potentially called “Call Me By Your Name.” Though it’s unclear when the album will arrive, it’s possible that he’ll make it onto the New York Times Best Seller list before he gets on the music charts, yet again.
