The Boston Celtics will reportedly sign Kemba Walker to a four-year, $140.8 million contract.

While it was already pretty clear based on reporting in the week leading up to June 30, the Celtics are in the midst of a significant transition. Since they need to use cap space to sign Walker, this move marks the formal acknowledgment that neither Kyrie Irving nor Al Horford will be on the team next season since President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge needs to renounce their significant cap holds to clear the space for Walker. That is more of a formality than anything, but still an important step as it clarifies the next step for the franchise.
