It has been a sweltering few days across the UK – so much so that we all feel like we’ve gone abroad for a holiday in the heat.

But what we didn’t expect to happen was for the country to turn into an actual jungle with exotic animals in it.

Because what appears to be a wildcat has been filmed casually strolling through a park during the heatwave.

A beady-eyed resident spotted the feline – which he said was the size of a ‘medium-sized dog’ – walking through Coldham’s Common in Cambridge on Sunday.

Dan Underwood quickly managed to capture it on video while out enjoying the scorching sunshine at the weekend.

‘I was out and about enjoying the sun and spotted a very large cat walking across Coldham’s Common,’ he said.

‘It was around 4pm and I was sat on Coldham’s Common where the Parkrun would normally take place.

‘I just saw it in the corner of my eye and just straight away took a video.

‘It was the size of a medium dog, lean and very agile looking. It was a light sand colour with dark spots, and big pointed ears. Much bigger than a regular cat.

‘It had no collar and didn’t seem to be in any panic. It just simply walked on by.

‘It walked by, stopped for a sec then carried on walking. I got up and followed it and it just scampered away into the hedgerow. I tried to follow it some more but it had gone.’

Local legend says a huge wild cat has been on the prowl across the Cambridgeshire for more than 30 years.

Called the Fen Tiger, it has allegedly been sighted numerous times – but never captured on camera.

Wild animals have been causing chaos in parks recently, after a wild boar made off with a granddad’s belongings in Berlin last week – and he ended up chasing it naked to get his things back.
