Kyrie Irving’s shoulder issue more severe than it appears?

The Brooklyn Nets may have a concerning situation on their hands with the health of Kyrie Irving.

Brian Lewis of the New York Post tweeted on Wednesday that he spoke with multiple NBA sources and orthopedic specialists to discuss Irving’s shoulder issue. The most optimistic of them expected the All-NBA guard to be out at least another week or two, while the most pessimistic indicated that there could be more to the injury than meets the eye, potentially leading to more issues down the road.

Irving, who has not played since mid-November and has missed the last nine games and counting, is dealing with what Brooklyn is officially calling “right shoulder impingement” and still is not cleared for contact. The No. 7-seeded Nets have gone 6-3 in his absence.

The six-time All-Star also has a troublesome history of chronic knee issues, so this is another thing to keep in mind with regard to his long-term health.
