Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving will miss his third consecutive game with a shoulder injury. Head coach Kenny Atkinson has already ruled him out for Wednesday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Irving last played on Thursday of last week against the Denver Nuggets. During that game, he pushed through the shoulder injury, going for 17 points, six assists and nine rebounds.
However, following that game he was dealing with more pain and has been out since.
“I know he wasn’t 100 percent going into the Denver game [Thursday],” Atkinson said last week. “We all knew that. But he played through it, and the returns obviously [Saturday] morning weren’t great. So I think it’s a smart thing, it’s a prudent thing to do. And we’ll see going forward what it looks like.”
Appearing in 11 games this year, Irving has been outstanding for the Nets, averaging 28.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
