When a team’s drafted Quenton Nelson, Darius Leonard, Braden Smith, Julian Blackmon and other special players, it feels foolish to question the man who made those selections — in this case, Colts general manager Chris Ballard. By most estimations, he is one of the league’s elite team-builders, and he’s got the Colts in a position to compete at the highest level imaginable.

But …

No left tackle.

Let me put it a slightly different way:

No left tackle?

After three days of listening to Mel and Todd needle one another — aren’t they just adorable? — the Colts did not address the single most pressing need on the team after Anthony Castonzo retired at season’s end.
