Instead, Thompson, likely out for the season after suffering a torn ACL in the NBA Finals, will serve as NBC Sports Bay Area’s sideline reporter for Wednesday night’s coverage of the Warriors’ showdown with the Chicago Bulls.
The big announcement was made during the network’s “Warriors Pregame Live” on Monday night before the team’s 100-97 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The news was later shared on Twitter by Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
