King: The Celtics just can’t get things working right. I can relate


The question would have been a worthy one, but I did not intend to ask it.

While on Brad Stevens’s Zoom press conference Thursday afternoon, I wanted to ask about the Celtics’ fourth-quarter defense. Throughout the Eastern Conference Finals, they have not gotten enough key stops. That’s a major reason why, despite outscoring the Heat by 13 points over non-fourth-quarter minutes, the Celtics sit on the verge of postseason elimination. They have been a snack to chew on when it matters most.

My Zoom just did not cooperate. After I pressed the unmute button to ask my question, I could see that Stevens had not heard me. A message popped up on my computer, informing me that my audio had broken down. I could no longer hear Stevens on the other side of the conversation. I also could not hear Brandon Chinn, the Celtics PR man in charge of the call. After several unsuccessful attempts to ask about the late-game defense, I snapped to myself in frustration. At…
