Police officers come across many strange sights but a killer whale on the motorway must be a first.

This bizarre scene greeted motorway officers yesterday on the M27 in Fareham, Hampshire.

Of course, one of the world’s most fearsome sea predators had not ended up stranded.

It was in fact an an inflatable toy which was swiftly removed by police.

Hampshire Police posted on Twitter: “Well we’ve had some interesting debris jobs reported on the motorway in the past, but never an inflatable killer whale in lane 2.

‘So if you’re missing one from Fareham M27 ‘Kevin’ the killer whale is now safe and sound at Havant Police Station.’
