Kevin Spacey posts cringeworthy video as Frank Underwood: 'Can he be serious? I'm dead serious'

Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey sparked ridicule over Christmas after he posted a video on his YouTube channel pretending to be his “House of Cards” character Frank Underwood for the second year in a row.

“You didn’t really think I was going to miss the opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas, did you?” the two-time Oscar winner said in the video, imitating the fictitious Underwood. “Been a pretty good year, and I’m grateful to have my health back. And in light of that, I’ve made some changes in my life, and I’d like to invite you to join me.

Mr. Spacey was fired from Netflix’s “House of Cards” in 2017 amid a wave of sexual assault and sexual harassment allegations. The show continued without him, killing Underwood in an intentional poisoning, and ended one year later in its sixth season.

This is the second time Mr. Spacey has revived the character to send a Christmas message.

“As we walk into 2020, I want to cast my vote for more good in this world,” he said in the new video. “Ah yes, I know what you’re thinking. ‘Can he be serious?’ I’m dead serious. And it’s not that hard, trust me.

“The next time someone does something you don’t like, you can go on the attack. But you can also hold your fire, and do the unexpected,” he said, adding ominously that, “you can kill them with kindness.”

Mr. Spacey was widely mocked last Christmas after he posted a similar video on the same day that he was charged with indecent assault and battery. Tuesday’s video was Mr. Spacey’s first public appearance since those charges were dropped in July.
