They will need to summon every drop of authentic, exaggerated, barely existent and imagined optimism in the entire organization to make the rest of this Warriors season something more than a six-month journey through NBA purgatory.
They will need to almost willfully ignore the present reality — after Stephen Curry broke his hand on Wednesday night, which added to Klay Thompson’s torn ACL, Kevon Looney’s indefinite absence and the loss of Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala — to feel semi-decent about themselves.
The Warriors will absorb so many bad losses, just like three of the first four games of this season, including Wednesday’s 121-110 listless loss to the Phoenix Suns at Chase Center, that they will need to reset and recalculate almost everything about themselves or else things will get quite depressing.
