Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano to face off in April 30 showdown at Madison Square Garden

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, a seven-weight world champion, will meet on April 30 for Taylor’s undisputed lightweight title in a clash that is arguably the biggest women’s match in history. The showdown will be held at Madison Square Garden’s main arena, making them the first two women to headline a fight card at the iconic venue.

Taylor (20-0, 6 KOs) will defend her undisputed lightweight title for the sixth time. The Irish boxer is coming off a December win over Firuza Sharipova after defeating Miriam Gutiérrez, Natasha Jonas and Jennifer Han in the last two years. During that time, she also had a majority decision win over Delfine Persoon and beat the Belgian again in a rematch in England.

Taylor also defeated Amanda’s sister Cindy in Boston in October 2018.

Serrano (42-1-1, 30 KOs) has been undefeated since April 2012. The Brooklyn-based fighter last fought in December, beating Miriam Gutiérrez by unanimous decision. Also in 2021, she beat Yamileth Mercado by unanimous decision in August and knocked out Daniela Romina Bermúdez in March.
