Karl-Anthony Towns, other Wolves express relief over Chauvin verdict after fearing the worst

The 90-minute window on Tuesday afternoon felt like a lifetime. Karl-Anthony Towns was sweating so much while he stared at his phone waiting for news on a verdict for Derek Chauvin that he needed another shower before heading to the arena to play Sacramento.

Tyus Jones was pacing in his hotel room in Los Angeles, hoping for the best but secretly dreading the worst. Gersson Rosas and Chris Finch were going so stir crazy at the Timberwolves hotel in Sacramento that they took a long walk together to talk about the situation and fill the time. Josh Okogie took a nap so he could skip the nail-biting and have the news there for him when he woke up.

Even 2,000 miles away in California, all eyes were back on Minneapolis wondering if Chauvin, the former police officer charged with murdering George Floyd last summer, would be convicted, or if an acquittal would spark another violent uprising in the city.
