Kansas has issues, so here’s what the Jayhawks can do to fix them


Bill Self spoke calmly and not like a man who was freaking out after Kansas lost on Saturday at Oklahoma, 75-68. It was the Jayhawks’ third straight loss, and in KU land, that’s usually grounds for throwing a brick through your television. 

Self will not be throwing any bricks, and listen to his words carefully when he answers where his team will go from here to understand his demeanor. “I don’t think that we’re talented enough not to have a hard stretch when we’re not playing well on the road against teams that are tournament teams,” he said.

It’s a reality that is unusual for the Jayhawks, but it’s their reality. They do not have two All-Americans like they had last year. They don’t have a lottery pick like Self is often accustomed to coaching. No coach in America is going to feel sorry for Self and his lack of talent. The roster has holes and could use a burner on the perimeter and a Udoka Azubuike…
