Jurgen Klopp is set to be back on the touchline for the first time since his Anfield exit this weekend.

Klopp left his post as manager of Liverpool back in May after a successful nine year spell in charge, having led the club to Champions League and Premier League triumphs.

The German has been enjoying his time off, stating he needed a rest as he announced his decision at the start of the year.

He was seen enjoying Euro 2024 as a fan as well as holidaying in Mallorca in the summer.

But Klopp is now set to manage his first game in months as he returns to the touchline in Germany.

Klopp will be the manager during a testimonial for Polish duo Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski at Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

Piszczek and Blaszczykowski both made their mark in Dortmund, with the duo having been key figures in Klopp’s spell in charge of the German giants between 2008 and 2015.

The Polish pair were part of Dortmund’s Bundesliga winning teams in 2011 and 2012 under Klopp.

They also fell narrowly short of winning the Champions League in 2013, finishing as runners-up to Bayern Munich at Wembley in an all-German final.

Dortmund shared a video on social media to confirm Klopp’s participation as a coach for the match.

In a light hearted video, Piszczek told Blaszczykowski that ‘we need a coach and I have an idea, we’ll call the retired coach.’

Klopp then entered the frame in sunglasses, saying: ‘you finally have your farewell game. Oh my god. And you want to train before the game. Are you stupid?’

Piszczek then mentioned that they still needed to work out what team Klopp would manage.

Klopp admitted: ‘I couldn’t care less. I don’t worry about it at all. I do it like I used to, I start thinking about it five minutes beforehand. Is the game sold out? I’d buy a ticket if I wasn’t coming anyway!’

Klopp has now been confirmed as the coach of Blaszczykowski’s team for the farewell match.

Current Dortmund boss Nuri Sahin will play in the match, while Mats Hummels will return for a farewell having joined Serie A side Roma after leaving the on a free transfer this summer.
