The wait was a little longer than expected, but New Orleans Pelicans fans finally got the fireworks they were waiting for on Monday night.
After weeks of speculation about the future of star combo guard Jrue Holiday, New Orleans traded the former All-Star to the Milwaukee Bucks for an impressive haul that sets them up for the present and the future.
In exchange for Holiday, the Pelicans received veteran guards Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, three first-round picks and the right to two additional pick swaps, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
It’s a trade that strengthens the Bucks in their pursuit of a championship run in 2021, and more importantly, a long-term extension with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. For New Orleans, it was the kind of return very few people thought they could get for a player who could potentially enter free agency next summer.
