The Columbus Blue Jackets have inked goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to a one-year contract worth $1.3 million.
Korpisalo, 28, had a tough season with injury issues, posting a 7-11-0 record in 22 games with a .877 save percentage. Korpisalo had hip surgery in April.
Korpisalo was due to become a UFA this summer.
Korpisalo had a rise to fame during the 2020 playoffs when he made 85 saves in a game against Tampa Bay, a modern day NHL record.
Korpisalo was a popular trade target over the past few seasons, and could still be moved with this new deal. The surgery, mixed in with tough numbers, might make that difficult, though.
