Fresh off becoming a meme thanks to her KISS-inspired look at the iHeart Radio Music Awards earlier this week, JoJo Siwa has kept the discourse alive by releasing a daring new video for her single “Karma.”
The video, released on Friday, features the former Dance Moms star venting her frustration over a lost lover on a deserted island under the moonlight — which is usually how all queer relationships end, if we’re being honest. “Karma’s a bitch, I should’ve known better/ if I had a wish, I would’ve never effed around,” she sings. “When I saw the pics of you and her, I fеlt the knife twist/ Karma’s a bitch, and she’s with you right now.”
In a behind-the-scenes video released by Entertainment Tonight, Siwa said that the video has been on her mind for quite some time. “I came up with the concept a year ago, pitched the whole concept,” she said. “Everything I can have my hand in, I have my hand in.”
Siwa has been hinting at a new musical direction for a while. On the iHeart red carpet, she told the Canadian entertainment news show etalk that she was looking to emulate pop icons like Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus with her new look and sound.
