John Wall, Adidas reportedly in buyout talks for endorsement deal

John Wall has not been able to give Adidas much return on its investment in him because of injuries, and now the company is trying to negotiate its way out of an endorsement deal, according to a report.

Adidas signed Wall to a five-year worth a reported $25 million with Adidas in January of 2018. Unfortunately for Wall, he has dealt with injuries since then and has not given Adidas much exposure.

Wall played in 11 games in January of 2018 before hurting his knee, which sidelined him until the end of the regular season. Then last season, Wall played in only 32 games before undergoing surgery on his heel. While recovering from heel surgery, Wall tore his Achilles tendon, which will keep him out for this season.

According to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Adidas is looking to buy Wall out of the remaining years on his contract.

Wall began his career with Reebok, switched to Adidas from 2013-2015, did not have a deal for two years, and then re-signed with Adidas. He could be headed to free agency again after this.
