James Harden thinks he can win with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant after Nets trade


The Nets’ decision to trade for James Harden signaled their desire to go all-in on winning a championship, with Kevin Durant at the helm of a three-headed offensive juggernaut with Kyrie Irving. On paper, it would seem, the rest of the NBA can’t keep up with Brooklyn.

But in his introductory news conference, Harden didn’t make any promises.

“It’s not a guarantee that me coming to Brooklyn is guaranteeing a title,” Harden, 31, said on Friday. “But I think, for me, giving myself a chance is very, very important. (When I was) younger, giving myself a chance but wanting to get paid and wanting to take care of my family was very, very important to me. Now, at this stage of my career, it’s giving myself a chance to do something that I haven’t accomplished yet in this league.
