James Corden recalls confronting Ivanka Trump at a wedding: 'I was a little drunk'

“The Late Late Show” host James Corden on Wednesday recalled drunkenly confronting Ivanka Trump at a recent wedding.

Mr. Corden and his guest Arnold Schwarzenegger opened up about the first family during the “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” portion of the show, in which participants are forced to answer personal questions or eat stomach-churning concoctions like June bug jello and turkey testicles.

Mr. Schwarzenegger asked the host, “You recently attended a wedding that was also attended by Ivanka Trump. What did you talk about?”

“All right, I will say this,” Mr. Corden answered, “I was a little drunk and I was with Orlando Bloom, who I think was equally, if not slightly less drunk than I was.

“And we were stood at the bar and Ivanka was also at the bar,” he continued, “and I can’t 100% remember it, but I remember that we were quite drunk and we started going, ‘Ivanka, you can do something. You can do something. You can do something. You can make a difference. You can make a difference. You can make it better.’ And, all I remember, Ivanka was going, ‘I’m trying. I’m trying.’ “

Mr. Corden said he had completely forgotten about the encounter until the next day when he saw the first daughter and presidential adviser again.

“The night carried on, I kept drinking and then the next day, it was like a two-day wedding and the next day there was like a drinks thing in the afternoon, and I’d forgotten all about it until I saw her, across this sort of garden, and it all came back,” he said. “And she just said, ‘I bet you’ve got a headache this morning.’ So that’s what I talked to Ivanka Trump about.”

Though details of the wedding were not specified, USA Today notes that Mr. Corden and Ms. Trump both attended the wedding of fashion designer Misha Nonoo and businessman Michael Hess in Rome in September.

During another portion of Wednesday’s segment, Mr. Schwarzenegger was asked about his longtime friendship with Mr. Trump that turned into a bitter feud in recent years. Mr. Corden asked the former California governor what was the worst thing he ever heard Mr. Trump say in private.

“Well, actually, in private, he always was very nice,” Mr. Schwarzenegger said. “As a matter of fact, the last conversation I had with him — a private conversation — was when he called me and asked me for my endorsement when he ran for president, and I declined.

“Since then, everything that he says about me, or to me, is on Twitter, which sucks,” he said. “So, I think it was always kind of nice in private, but in public, I think that he’s very mean-spirited with what he says.”
