Jaguars fire GM Dave Caldwell

The Jacksonville Jaguars fired general manager Dave Caldwell, the team announced Sunday.

Caldwell was the general manger in Jacksonville since 2013. The Jaguars went 37-86 during his tenure.

“I have met with Dave Caldwell to express my appreciation for his service to the Jacksonville Jaguars as our general manager,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement. “Dave was exceptionally committed and determined to bring a winner to Jacksonville, but unfortunately his effort were not rewarded with the results our fans deserve and our organization expects. Our football operation needs new leadership, and we will have it with a new general manager in 2021.”

NFL Network reported that former 49ers general manager Trent Baalke has been named the interim general manager, and that head coach Doug Marrone and his staff have been informed they are safe through the end of the season.

This story will be updated. More to come.
