‘It’s a huge win for us’: How to perceive the Nets’ win over the Bucks


Bruce Brown had Bucks guard Khris Middleton trapped.

With 3.8 seconds left in the game Monday, Middleton caught an inbounds pass in the corner, only to find Brown, the Nets’ defensive specialist, switched onto him. Brown closed out on Middleton.

With no room to turn and take a corner 3, Middleton had to settle for a step-back along the baseline, which Brown still contested. The ball rimmed out, and the Nets secured the biggest victory of Steve Nash’s young coaching career, 125-123 over Milwaukee.

“We tried to take away the corner pass with (DeAndre Jordan),” Nash said of the final possession. “They did a good job slipping it under there. We switched everything before the ball came inbounds, and I thought Bruce did a good job containing that cut, catch, making him pump-fake, side-step and still be in that contest.”
