Isola: With both his old and new team struggling, Kevin Durant’s greatness has never been more obvious


Kyrie Irving’s well-publicized mood will improve dramatically the moment Kevin Durant is cleared to play basketball again. Or at least you hope it does. Until that day arrives – which may not be for another 11 months – Durant’s gap year/publicity tour continues on Thursday when the Brooklyn Nets injured forward will be a guest on ESPN’s morning debate show “First Take.” Check your local listings because Durant won’t disappoint.

Just a few weeks ago Durant went on a New York City radio program and made headlines by saying the New York Knicks are no longer “cool.” Ouch. This is how Durant occupies his time these days in between the endless and boring process of rehabbing from a debilitating leg injury. It’s a smart strategy; use the media to shape a public image and build your brand. He clearly didn’t just move to the media capital of the world for basketball.
