Isac Lundestrom, Lukas Dostal among Ducks prospects with opportunity to play


There are many prospects within the Ducks system that cannot wait to get their seasons underway.

It is the middle of November and Trevor Zegras has yet to make his pro debut after leaving college behind and signing with Anaheim nearly eight months ago. The talented playmaking center isn’t the only one pining for competition.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx is also out to compete for a job with a new team and start his pro career after four productive seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Josh Mahura and Antoine Morand have spent time in the AHL and are also among the many players in preparation mode for the opening of Ducks training camp — with a date still yet to be set.

Such is the uncertainty of playing hockey during a pandemic.

Hockey schedules have been thrown off in 2020. The Stanley Cup was awarded on Sept. 28 and with that three-month delay meant a draft wasn’t held until Oct. 6. Start dates for the new season in some…
