Instant grades and reaction: Brook Lopez to stay in Milwaukee


The deal: Brook Lopez agreed to a four-year, $52 million deal to stay in Milwaukee, according to Adrian Wojnarowksi of ESPN.

While retaining Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon were definitely at the top of the priority list for the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, finding a way to keep Brook Lopez in the mix was huge, as well. When the Bucks waived the non-guaranteed contract of George Hill for next season, it signaled their intention to work out a deal with Lopez. Hill played incredible basketball for the Bucks in the playoffs and was one of their most consistent scorers at times. They just didn’t need him at $18 million next season. They’ve already invested in a four-year extension for Eric Bledsoe, making Hill’s current deal expendable.
