Inside raucous Milwaukee celebration as Bucks win first NBA title in 50 years

MILWAUKEE — As fate would have it, timing once again got in the way of another Greek Freak free throw.

Not opposing fans’ countdowns, mind you. Instead, the roughly 65,000 people who packed Milwaukee’s Deer District and beyond had to wait with bated breath to learn for themselves whether Giannis Antetokounmpo had made good on yet another attempt from the charity stripe Tuesday. This time, the signal to the lone projector broadcasting the Bucks’ Game 6 win outside Fiserv Forum went out right as the two-time MVP was about to complete a three-point play to open the second half.

So the crowd outside improvised, as it so often did on a night half a century in the making.

“WHERE’S-OUR-T-V?” everyone chanted in unison.
