Indian tennis teams win Asian u-12 title


The Indian boys and girls beat Nepal and Sri Lanka 2-0 in the finals, before rain forced the abandonment of the inconsequential doubles matches, in the Asian under-12 tennis championship in Dhaka on Friday.

The Indian boys dropped nine games in winning the two singles rubbers, while the girls dropped eight games between them in winning the two singles matches.

The results (finals): Boys: India bt Nepal 2-0 (Rethin Pranav Senthilkumar bt Pranav Manandhar 6-1, 6-1; Manas Dhamne bt Arrav Samrat Hada 6-4, 6-3).

Girls: India bt Sri Lanka 2-0 (Riya Sachdeva bt Arushi Charuni Thomasage 6-1, 6-2; Ika Raju Kanumuri bt Ruvi Rajakaruna Levkebandare 6-2, 6-3).
