The match that was supposed to be played at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat did not start due to heavy downpour. Earlier, India had entered the final of the tournament after registering a narrow 3-2 victory against Japan on Saturday. Pakistan, on the other hand, beat Malaysia via a penalty shoot-out. The last time India met Pakistan was in the round-robin clash of the tournament where the former registered a 3-1 win against arch-rivals Pakistan. Both India and Pakistan have won the title twice. India won it in 2011 and 2016, while Pakistan won the 2012 and 2013 editions.
