In White Sox no-hitter, Carlos Rodón shut down the Cleveland offense, and restarted his story

Almost two years ago, Carlos Rodón was standing in the Minnesota Twins visitor’s locker room with his left arm covered in so much gauze and plastic you would swear the top layer was just saran wrap. And if you weren’t familiar with his blunt assessments, you would speculate that the anesthesia from his Tommy John surgery had not completely worn off as he placed the odds he would ever pitch again in stark terms.

“They say the percentages on the elbow on the Tommy John surgery is 92 percent,” Rodón said. “The shoulder (surgery underwent in 2017) was 75 percent. I would say the percentages are on my side after the first one.”

Comparatively, knocking off the rust from a nine-day layoff (after an upset stomach scratched his scheduled Monday start) was a more manageable obstacle.
