Killian Hayes, staring at several dozen floating heads through a laptop screen, was brought back to a place that we all miss when asked about the Pistons’ Sekou Doumbouya.
During a Zoom call with reporters Monday, the likely top-10 pick in the NBA Draft reflected on the friendship the two Frenchmen developed over years of playing with and against one another back in their homeland. Hayes was visibly enthused when flashing back to those days of human interaction, and equally enlivened when considering the possibility of joining the 19-year-old Doumbouya in the Motor City.
“I have a great relationship with Sekou,” Hayes, who is also 19, told reporters. “I’ve done multiple camps with him. It would be an easy adjustment if I went (to Detroit) because I know him. He knows Detroit and would be able to show me around. Playing with him … it would be fun. He’s one of my guys.”
