In April via Instagram, Atlanta United defender Franco Escobar discussed his future with ESPN Argentina’s Nacho Rivarola, confirming reports that linked him with an eventual move back to Argentina, namely to Racing Club and Boca Juniors. 

The 25-year-old Argentine categorized the links to Boca Juniors as rumors, but he did reveal that talks had taken place with Racing between himself, Racing’s coach Sebastián Beccacece and the club’s sporting director Diego Milito. 

“It’s great when a club like Racing asks for you,” Escobar told Rivarola. “A club with a coach like Sebastián, with Diego Milito…but at the time I wasn’t sure about returning (to Argentina) and I didn’t want to return if I wasn’t 100 percent convinced about it…I decided to stay and see what happens.”
