‘I’m not a dirty player’: Packers’ Darnell Savage Jr. denies Derrius Guice’s ‘cheap shot’ allegation that ended his season


Midway through the second quarter of the Packers’ 20-15 win over the Redskins on Sunday, Green Bay rookie safety Darnell Savage Jr. administered a hit to Washington running back Derrius Guice’s left leg at the end of a 23-yard run.

Guice suffered a sprained left MCL on the play, and this week he was placed on injured reserve, ending his season. Guice, the impressive second-year running back from LSU, missed his entire rookie season after tearing his left ACL in the 2018 preseason. Then in Week 1 this season, he tore his right meniscus and missed the next eight games.

Earlier this week, Guice tweeted, in regards to Savage’s hit: “I think it was a cheap shot!! He knows the history of my knee injuries and went straight at them …”

Guice has since deleted the tweet.
