Iga Swiatek in tears after getting revenge on Aryna Sabalenka to win Madrid Open title

Turning her attention to her own team, Swiatek also noted how epic the final had been. “I want to thank my team. It’s – oh my god, like, I’ve had pretty nice speeches before so I don’t know what else to say to make it special. I think what you saw on court was pretty special anyways,” she continued.

The top seed was visibly exhausted after finishing a three-hour thriller at close to 10pm local time as she made the crowd laugh as she stumbled over the conclusion to her speech. Swiatek added: “I want to thank my family who is watching, my sponsors, tournament sponsors, everybody who is making this tournament possible.

“Also volunteers, ball kids, sorry for mean faces sometimes. And yeah let’s – oh and thank you guys, sorry I’m too tired, thank you for watching until the end and for amazing atmosphere. As I said, it’s always a pleasure to be back in Madrid so I’ll be already looking forward to next year.”
