U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) appointed a new director for its Denver Field Office this week.
John Fabbricatore, 47, spent much of 2019 as acting field officer director. He oversees enforcement of the United States’ immigration laws across a 207,000-square-mile area encompassing Colorado and Wyoming.
His appointment was announced Tuesday.
In addition to serving as acting field office director, Fabbricatore’s most recent tenure was as deputy field office director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division in Denver.
A native of Long Island, New York, Fabbricatore joined the U.S. Air Force in 1991 as a security forces airman, serving tours in Germany and Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch. He joined the civilian service in 1996, working his way through the ranks as a police officer for the Federal Protective Service, a deportation officer for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service and an instructor for the ICE ERO Academy.
Fabbricatore has lived in Denver for more than 20 years. He oversaw the initial rollout of Operation Opioid Counter Strike, which removed 50 international heroin dealers from the capitol city in 2016.
