How to rock a golf skort in 3 lengths: mini, mid-thigh and knee-length

skorts

Mini, mid-thigh or knee-length — what’s your preference?

When the weather is warm enough, I wear golf skorts pretty much exclusively. Shorts are great, don’t get me wrong — as an Arizonan, they’re a ubiquitous staple in my everyday, off-course wardrobe. But on the course, skorts are my jam. They’re stretchy, comfortable, and offer the femininity of a skirt plus the functionality of shorts. A win-win!

If you love skorts like me, you’ve you’ve likely noticed that ultra-short skorts are all the rage these days. While I never thought of myself as the mini-type, a recent sample from Lija gave me a fresh perspective. Minis can be super flattering — and they can double as workout-wear when you’re not playing a round.

Regardless of your length preferences, skort-lovers now have plenty of options. Check out some of my favorites below, in three lengths — mini, mid-thigh and knee-length — and how to rock them.

MINI

This Lija mini is absolutely adorable, and I love the fresh print! While many courses have relaxed their dress codes in recent years, a 13-inch length may be too short for some facilities, so make sure to check if you’re unsure. But I love the versatility of this skort. From the gym to the tennis court to the golf course, this skort does it all, with style. If I’m going to sport a super-short length, I like to pair it with something a bit more conservative on top, like a long-sleeve sunshirt.

MID-THIGH

I’m 5’4″ — not very tall! — so 16-17 inches is a comfortable length for me, and the length at which you’ll find the majority of skorts on the market. At my height, the hemline hits about two-three inches above the knee, depending on how high you like the skort to sit at the waist. A few extra inches makes a big difference in terms of coverage, and this length still feels sporty. When pairing tops, I feel like pretty much anything goes — full sleeves, sleeveless, racerback — all fair game! With a printed skort like the one below, I like to go with a solid color on top.

KNEE-LENGTH

This length — about 18-inches — is the most conservative of the three. It’s nice to have a longer skort on hand in case you do run into a course that has a stricter dress code. This particular Greg Norman selection is also great because detail on the hem adds another quarter inch of length. In terms of pairing this skort, I think the more coverage you have on bottom, the more you can be a bit more daring up top. I like to pair longer lengths with sleeveless or racerback tops, fun prints or even a trendy blade collar.
