How a heartwarming family surprise is bringing the Suns home in the bubble


LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The most important Phoenix Suns game in a decade is Thursday, and they already know it will start off right.

That’s because their moms and dads and sisters and children and one special superfan will introduce them.

For every Suns “home” game inside the Disney bubble, the players are introduced not by the in-arena P.A. announcer or via pre-recorded intros by their usual man from Talking Stick Resort Arena, but by a slyly produced video of loved ones belting out the jersey number, college, and name of their favorite player.

The Suns are a stunning 7-0 since the NBA restarted its season, and are on the verge of making the first-of-its-kind play-in round in the Western Conference. They haven’t reached the playoffs since 2010, and will need to beat the Mavericks on Thursday and get help from other teams to get into the play-in round. At least they know it’s a home game Thursday.
