Hottest Hotel Openings Of 2022: Hôtel Barrière Fouquet’s New York

Groupe Barrière, the venerable French hospitality company behind Le Fouquet’s Paris and Hotel Le Majestic in Cannes, will make its débuts officiels in the U.S. next summer with the unveiling of the Hôtel Barrière Fouquet’s New York.

Blending Parisian panache with Big Apple verve, the eight-story property, located at 456 Greenwich Street in the city’s tony Tribeca neighborhood, aims to deliver soigné hospitality on an intimate scale.

The Art Deco-inspired hotel features 97 residential-style rooms (including six suites with terraces) by acclaimed Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki, where pastel hues and inspired touches like Calacatta marble and toile de Jouy fabrics will help inform an elegant maison de famille ambience.

Vibrant food and beverage destinations include an outpost of historic French brasserie Fouquet’s and an uber-chic, violet-hued hotel bar, while artful amenities range from the sumptuous Spa Diane Barrière to a state-of-the-art screening room and a rooftop terrace offering dazzling views of the Hudson River.

“I want to bring together guests’ stories and desires with the centuries-old French art de vivre ingrained in the brand’s DNA to cultivate a unique and exciting environment within the hotel,” says newly appointed General Manager Gilles Stellardo.

Founded over a century ago, Groupe Barrière recently gained a foothold in North America with the opening of Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf St Barth in September 2020. Its stateside entrée, in partnership with hotel owner Caspi Development, will mark a new company milestone.

“We are honored to bring the Barrière brand, a prestigious icon in the hospitality industry, to New York, creating a level of hospitality the Tribeca neighborhood has yet to see,” said Joshua Caspi, Principal, Caspi Development, in a press release. “We found a natural synergy with Groupe Barrière, sharing family-owned principles and generations-long industry expertise, and look forward to creating a space that marries traditional French elegance with the casual residential vibes of Tribeca.”
