Hormel rolls out ready-to-eat Texas barbecue meats

AUSTIN, MINN. — Hormel Foods Corp. is bringing Texas barbecue beyond the Lone Star state with a new line of ready-to-eat, pit-smoked Texas barbecue meats under its Sadler’s Smokehouse brand.

The meats are seasoned and pit-smoked low and slow, the company said, using butcher-quality cuts of meat and Texas hardwoods. The lineup includes sliced beef brisket, St. Louis style pork ribs, pulled pork and pulled chicken.

“We are thrilled to offer Sadler’s Smokehouse ready-to-eat products to consumers longing for authentic pit-smoked barbecue without the mess and hassle,” said Eric Jacobson, brand manager at Hormel Foods. “Our delicious beef brisket alone is pit-smoked for 16 to 18 hours over slow-smoldering wood coals, the same method of cooking Sadler’s has been using for more than 65 years.”

Sadler’s Smokehouse pulled pork and pulled chicken retails for $9.99, the St. Louis ribs retail for $9.99 per lb and the beef brisket retails for $15.99 per lb. The products are available at Albertsons, Shaws, Associated Wholesale Grocers, Hy-Vee and Kroger stores in select markets.

“First and foremost, these products come already prepared in the tradition of real Texas barbecue, giving home barbecue enthusiasts and cooks the freedom to enjoy more time together while experiencing the taste of authentic pit-smoked barbecue,” said Justin Robinson, vice president of marketing at Sadler’s Smokehouse. “Our pit masters are experts in barbecue, monitoring our pits to achieve a premium-quality product. They take the work out of strenuousness barbecue planning without sacrificing quality and taste.”
