To cap off a torrid day of news, the NHL released their schedule on Thursday night for the 2021-22 regular season.
The 2021-22 season will be the first of the league’s new broadcast partnership with ESPN, with the NHL’s opening-night doubleheader between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning, and Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights being broadcast by the network on October 12th.
Other notable dates in the schedule include the Kraken’s inaugural home opener versus the Vancouver Canucks on October 23rd, the 2022 NHL Winter Classic between the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild at the Minnesota Twins’ Target Field on New Years Day, and the 2022 Navy Credit Union Stadium Series hosted at the Tennesse Titans’ Nissan Field between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators.
As well, the schedule includes an option for a February 7-22 break to accommodate Olympic participation, should the NHL come to an agreement to allow players to attend.
It’s shaping up to be quite the season.
