‘He’s still pretty good’: Carmelo Anthony gives Bulls fans a throwback, showing what could have been


After his curtain-call chants had ended, after he had finished powering Portland past the Bulls, Carmelo Anthony was asked a hypothetical question Monday night.

“When the Bulls traded for you, would you have considered playing here if they asked you to?”

“They didn’t ask,” Anthony said.

Anthony was a Bulls player for 10 days back in January, following a salary-dump trade from Houston. He never reported to Chicago. The Bulls waived him Feb. 1.

“I think at that point in time, it was just like, ‘OK, we’ll do it just to do it,’” Anthony said. “It was no conversation.”

Maybe there should have been one.
