The host was very sure, and very wrong, five years ago that the couple’s first child, Aleph, would be a girl.

This time around she felt confident enough to up the ante with a big bet on the sex of the star’s second child after hearing about the star’s cravings.

Natalie said: ‘It seems like it would be in my favor since last time you were so, so wrong.’

Ellen said: ‘I had a 50-50 shot and I committed to that and now I’m committing to this.’

With her first child, the Oscar winner wanted sweets all the time.

She said: ‘I wanted, like, cream puffs or like any dessert with cream in it, or just pain whipped cream, straight.’

Not the case this time around.

She added: ‘This time it’s like healthy, like pineapple, cucumbers… burritos! Which is maybe less healthy, but… delicious.’

That was all Ellen needed to hear. She said: ‘I think you’re gonna have a girl.’

Natalie liked her odds and the two shook on it before she knew the terms.

When the actor asked what they were betting, Ellen said: ‘Like… a thousand dollars.’

Surprised, Natalie laughed and said: ‘I was thinking pizza. Or burritos.’

Ellen didn’t want to fight, and agreed on a thousand dollars and pizza.

With the official business out of the way, the talk turned to the actor, producer and director’s performance in Pablo Larrain’s Jackie.

In order to prep for the role, the 35-year-old told Ellen she had to study up beyond the ‘broad strokes’ she already knew about the life, style and demeanor of the title character, Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.

She also worked for ‘about a month’ with dialect coach to nail down the late First Lady’s distinct accent.

She said: ‘It’s really wild to think of a First Lady being up for, like, an Emmy.’

The actor found that special particularly helpful with portraying her voice because Jackie spoke so much in the show.
